Submissions

Mantel aims to bring people together through humor and good feeling in the form of writing and art - poetry, essays, short stories, and photographs. If you are interested in any of these categories, and posses a positive outlook on whatever you think is relevant, then Mantel wants you to submit. Any of the previous categories are acceptable submissions. The only requirement is that someone who views your piece is made happier by it. (If you want some examples of what we feel is good writing, check out the Model Essays links to the right.)

Mission Statement

Mantel aims to bring people together through humor and good feeling in the form of writing and art - poetry, essays, short stories, and photographs. Our goal is to help people see the world in a new light and look on even the smallest of experiences with laughter and optimism. This is not, however, a cheesy, all-is-right-with-the-world magazine. Dark comedy and sarcasm are also appreciated as an art form. The world is composed of many different types of people who respond to many different types of humor - if it cheered you up, it will probably also cheer someone else up too.

Write about the little things that make you happy, the pennies that brighten your day. Write about ordinary, everyday experiences in an unusual way. Write about something you hate in a way that will make other people laugh. Make someone's day better by submitting your work today.
